I'd never looked at Nicolaides' paintings until you asked about him. Talk about some crap. Still, in terms of a drawing textbook with traditional academic lessons, his is one of the best. Looks like he began experimenting with LSD shortly after writing his textbook and turned his brain to Jello. Those were some bad paintings!

I'm glad you found something stimulating to study from.

Someone very wise once said: 'It's not what you've got, it's what you do with it!' and I think this applies in the case of Nicolaides. He gives very good drawing instruction but what you do with it once you get the hang of it, is entirely up to you and your abilities.

Some of my very best instructors couldn't paint worth a darn, but they taught me how to make the best of what I had to offer. Some time was spent with Nicolaides' book and it was worthwhile.
