Art In The White House

What I like most about the Internet is finding out that people have given some really serious thought to topics I haven’t given a moments thought to, thus acquiring something else to occupy my mind with.

An example of this is the Art in the White House - who acquired what and how many of the painters are from what race, and whether the race of an artist should be of any interest to anyone, or is the only thing relevant the artistic ability of the said artist.

I have thought about this topic, being a woman, from a different angle (not about art in the White House), but about whether who or what the artist was is relevant - if it was a female or male artist (speaking of which - How many of the paintings in the White house are by female artists?) Black or White, Young or old, and always finding myself clinging to both sides of the argument.

What do you think?
