Can anyone recommend a black ink for a calligraphy project? The ink will be mixed with white and therefore must not have a color undertone. Osmiroid black has a green undercolor and the Shaeffer is slightly purple. I'm using a Shaeffer pen with a refillable cartridge. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're mixing with another color entails but you can find India inks that are formulated for refillable pens. I use Higgins 'Drawing Ink' as well as FW Waterproof India Ink, mfd by Steig Products of Lakewood, NJ, USA. For colored inks that will work in a refillable pen, I use ROTRING brand.

You might want to consider an old trick. some colours when mixed with white change their hue to a slightly different colour - the problem is normally solved by experimenting with adding colours to create a two colour mixture that would neutralise the impact of the white. If the Shaeffer is a bluish purple then you need a slight yellow orange to neutralise it. The Osmiroid black with the slight green undercolour (if bluish green use a reddish orange) - I am using the complement to neutralise the blacks and move them closer to a true black. It is very tricky because you are playing with such slight variations in the colour cast of the blacks.
