Does anyone make there own paints or altering store bought paints? (oils) I have been reading that this is in some cases possible, but I am not sure how to go about it and what the benefit would be.

fold a piece of paper in half. spread a nut of tubed oil paint onto the paper. the paper will obsorb the oil after a few minutes. scrape off pigment and mix with a drop or two of medium. i like to use james groves products. he has a web site that sells some fantastic mediums ranging from copal to amber. hard resin based mediums that allow optimal paint control.these are made with walnut oil that is why i remove the linseed from the tubed paint. i have created some small very detailed work with this technique and mediums. i will post an example of my work soon to give an idea of what can be achieved with these mediums. thanks
