Hi all! I was unable to find a newsgroup specifically for art history and decided to post here in hopes that someone can help me. There is a statue called the Dying Gall that depicts a Gall who is sitting on the ground, his body held up by one arm as he looks at the ground, fighting death to the end. I have posted a picture at http://www.geocities.com/clint_elg/gall.JPG so you can see the piece I am describing (strangely, you MUST capitalize the JPG or it will fail to load). This is the only piece of art I can very distinctly remember from Art 101 and recently found it on the web. I can recall the teacher stating that there is another similar statue from the same era that depicts a Gall committing suicide with his wife. Does anyone know of the name of this piece, or the artist? Any resources that could point me in the right direction of finding this piece, or any other related pieces? Or even any more background on the Dying Gall piece? I have tried 'Google-ing' but to no avail, and what little I could find in the library was just a picture of the Dying Gall with a short caption. Are there any good references on the web about the Galls in general? Any help would be greatly apprecited!

Thanks,
elcielito

Try spelling it GAUL and you'll have better luck (also it's 'appreciated'.
