Nik, Check out this color work by my artist neighbor. I've seen only her B&W pen and inks in public venues. I see some sililarities in this portrait to your own works.

You can't restrict viewing to Nik especially when you have a big mouth like me around.

comments:

Interesting it seems a number of us are moving in the same direction reference my nerd god). I just finished working on a sketch that is more refined but still moving in the nerd god direction.

I have to date (and I say to date) retained more of the naturalistic form as an understructure than she has - she is slightly flat with comic book type shading combined with areas of realised form texture. Nik has retained less of the naturalistic understructure form and uses more signs (markings). I am thinking of moving more in Nik's direction (use of signs) but have not yet been able to integrate it with my need for a naturalistic understructure.

I agree with you it appears to be another variation of Nik's work.

Ok so I will make a comment some people will be interested in and some will not. Naturalism views the world as a singular surface entity. There is another philosophy which views the world dualistically in terms of the natural world and the spirit world. The spirit world has been traditionally denoted by signs which is more intellectual and interpretative. It is this merging of the two worlds which interests me.

In general: from what I have seen of her work it tends towards naturalism - this latest work is moving towards signs but still retains strong naturalistic ties. She has to come to terms with her world view and she appears to be challenging her naturalistic framework. It is a problem only she can solve.

See what happens when you have a big mouth in the group.

keith.
