I am asking other painters what they feel about using gesso as white paint instead of tube or jar pigment. So far I cannot see the difference.

I have actually liked the look of the gesso better. The gesso I use now, Grumbacher, includes titanium white.

I would appreciate constructive comments from any serious poster with experience on the matter.

Perhaps it would be simpler if you simply named the person(s) you'd believe qualified to respond!

You can conduct an experiment to see if your suggestion to me is more sensible than the approach I have used.

For me it depends on what I want... if I want some texture, raw shapes, something raised and abstract then I use gesso as I can glop and roll freely. If I want something a bit more neat and prim then I like white paint.
