Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me ID this painting and the artist that did it. I believe it's German. I have three photos of the painting, a full shot of the front, the signature and some charcoal writing on the back. You can see the photos at:

The author's name starts with C. Ma... but I'm not willing to guess any farther than that but I'd love to hear other people's ideas on the name.

Hi

Looks to me like 'C. Mauritius'. The inscription on the back could read 'Dreimastschoner Orig. Mauritius'.
