Hi, I'm trying to find the name of a painting, and who painted it....unfortunately all I can remember is a few details of what it looked like. I remember learning about in history in high school (not art history, but the art section of a history class, so I guess it must be relatively well known).

I'm pretty sure it's a German painting, and that it's from after the Renaissance (maybe 1600s?). It's basically a forest (and maybe I mountain, I forget), but there is a very large and very thin crucifix right in the middle. I think the colours are pretty dark, too, if that helps. It always struck me a very strange image, but I think that was its intention.

Sorry I don't remember any more details....I hope this is enough. It's driving me nuts that I can't remember the name of it....

Yes! That is it. It looked a little different in my head, but that is definitely it.

Whoops, actually I meant it was the right artist (and right place to point me), although the painting was Cross on the Mountain.

Thanks again!
