I came across a very interesting website for an African Bronze sculptor. I was very impressed by his skill and attention to detail, he obviously knows his subject matter very well.

He has various sculptures of both wildlife and marine life, both are fascinating. Check out his site at http://www.dietmarwiening.com and tell me what you think.

It's stunningly beautiful, but is it art?

If it's 'stunningly beautiful' then who cares!?

Dietmar Weining's bronze sculpture is not stunning beautiful to me, it's kitsch. But it is art.

Bronze work is still a living art among the hindus and Buddhists of South and Southeast Asia. The Buddha sculpures made now in Kathmandu, Nepal are the best in the world in my opinion, although many good pieces can be found further south, in India, if you have time to wade through the mediocre piece. In Chennai City, India, is a museum with one of the best collections of larger bronze cast pieces in the world. Most of them depict the Nata Raja or 'Dancing Shiva.' When you see the different moods evoked by these pieces, will recognize that it is art. Many bronze pieces are made in Thailand of varying quality, but only copies of traditional images.
