Wow! Here's a perfect example of why you can never stereotype the figure, and why observation is so important to rendering a realistic likeness. Makes me wonder if Rolene was once Roland?

There ARE people, you know, who actually *have* perfect bodies. Is drawing a perfect body from a perfect body... stereotyping?

I understand what you're talking about though... and it has made me think about rendering AGE... and how important that 'could' be.

And how implants result in totally unnatural, non-round, non-symmetric breasts. The picture of the breasts on the last page was absolutely horrible.

And don't forget the dyed hair!

NOPE - It's usually BORING to an experienced artist.

OTOH, it's easy to draw from memory the stereotypical. No model needed for the experienced artist.

Not 'could' for me, but 'is.' There is nothing more exciting in drawing than to have a face with 'character' to work with, whether that's due to age or facial features that set the person apart from the 'norm.'

For example: I can whip out a reasonable likeness of a 'perfect' female face in no time, but working with a face that has 'character' takes concentration and attention to detail if one is going to capture a likeness. Look at my painting of Bruno, done when I was still but a novice at painting:

One doesn't get a chance to render such people all that often.
