You must have a connection problem (e.g. a timeout somewhere along the way) - they all loaded easily for me, as did the links.

I like the loose style.

Your links are not working. Check your HREF. You shouldn't need to put the entire URL just the name of the graphic file.

Hi M; I checked - the links to the files are all relative to his top directory, the addresses are not absolute. It is Java scripted though - are you running an older browser (or do you have JavaScript turned off?). I imagine Peter probably put this together using an on-line tool through his host, they often insert lots of unneeded stuff...

Cheers; Chris

Hey Chris,

I'm using Netscape 7.1. I had a similar problem once and my nephew who works for Microsoft,(ahem) helped me clean up my code.

Using Virtual Mechanics' Site Spinner puts in tons of extra code but I like it. It's great for graphics and it's only $83.83 CDN.

says...

I am using IE 6.0 and the home page opened with thumbnails, all sized the same, and the thumbnails opened to larger images in differing sizes. Not that it really matters, but my 'recommendation' would be to have all of your larger images open to the same size. I choose to size mine at 480 pixels on the longest side so that people with small-screen monitors can view them fully on their screens.

Yes it must be a bit frustrating! - Do you use your own software to put the site together and then upload it, or do you use your host's tools? If you put it together yourself, there's no reason for the java, etc...

Or maybe the site has some sort of band limits? Some - like Geocities - have fairly strict ones, and once you hit your max downloads per day or week or month (whatever), they stop other people from accessing images.

Anyway, a good way to learn how to write HTML is to download Netscape, and use its tools to put togther a simple page, and then look at the actual source code. once you get the hang of that, move on to a relatively clear tool like the one Agathena recommends.
