Why send the note in the first place? Naturally his wife would be upset as she would see it as a ploy to move back in on him.

Tearing it up ok - but how? - orderly pieces? Not throwing it in the garbage is an interesting action - he put it in a place where it may be found - he did not scatter it to the wind - there may still be something between them.

Yep. And when she says, 'Don't show this note to Monique!' who doesn't see this as her trying to drive a wedge between husband and wife?

I often wonder if the people who throw their private notes on the street are hoping someone will come along and find them.

But (and I've also thought this before) maybe all voyeurs believe the naked woman wants me to watch, otherwise she'd take care to lower the blinds just one more inch.

The other point is that it was found stuffed between a pole and an electrical box. A deliberate act as Holmes would say or someone suddenly appeared and as that someone turned their back he quickly and smoothly stuffed the torn note into the nearest object.

After the murder he returned to retrieve the note but your friend had by then removed it.

Another point. Many houses in our area have kitchens in the front with floor to ceiling windows (approx.). The floor to ceiling windows have an upper and a lower section.

Darkness descends - some people close the upper curtains / blinds but forget the lower - others don't bother. There is something about not being able to see out that requires a twist of mind to realise that others can see in.
