Hi - I am looking for information about the paintings of John Singleton Copley; the well-known painter in pre-Revolutionary America. Apparently he painted many portraits of wealthy New England families such as the Wentworth's of New Hampshire (i.e. John Wentworth was last Royal Governor of NH). I am curious to see if he painted the Governor's brothers' family - Thomas and Anne Wentworth of Portsmouth NH. Any information or suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi. Here's an interesting link with some information about JSC. They don't mention the Portsmouth Wentworths, but it would seem if they were related to John Wentworth, then perhaps there is a connection.

I might recommend contacting either this gallery or even the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for more information. The MFA Boston has quite a nice room loaded with JSC works. Good luck!
