Someone asked me today what is art for? Or what is it good for - how necessary is it? For me its clearly like air to breath, but I wasn't sure how to explain that, so what do you think? What is art good for?

That is a philosophic question.I think that art is the culture's language. Music, dance, poetry, paintings, statues and all other forms of art are a means to say things in a new and different form. Ofcourse it's not a thing we must have like air, water and such but I think it's a must for a civilization.

art to me is a mirror of life, its complicaited and has many many sides and meanings and impacts everyone that it comes in contact with. just as we as humans do art can clearify a feeling or confuse a logical meaning. it helps us see the world better and brighter or allows us to hide away from the darkness of the sun in the brightness of our deepest cannon. art is good for life. it helps us sort out every little wrinkle and use tragedy to create beauty or remind the auidence of just how beautiful that field is that you pass by everyday. art to me personaly validates my existance and i know that may strike some as a little ill but i know that without it id just be another schmuck watching tv and listening to the weightless jokes and narrowminded opinons instead of trying to figure out production details and trying to brainstorm more details on my own forthcomming production with the newly aquired understanding. its all about trying to understand. just like religion.lol. in a nutshell. in my opinion
