IF your art is about what YOU feel, why do you even BOTHER showing it to someone else? It's worthless in the way that NO ONE ELSE will grasp what you are experiencing inside YOUR mind!!

IF this is the way YOU feel, why do you even BOTHER to post it to the group? But then a news group, like art, is just another form of human communication. And hopefully someone else will grasp what you are experiencing in YOUR mind, or heart, or soul. Cheers

On the other hand, cozmic pointlessness may just be the secret of great art. Just ask Kurt Vonnegut.

Art was NEVER (just) about WHAT some bloody artist feels.

Every human (and most living creatures as well) feel something all the time, why other would care about some artist's feelings?

Art id about WHAT you KNOW, WHAT you SEE, HOW you UNDERSTAND it, and WHAT you can SAY about it. And HOW you can say about it.

The last (and LESS INTERESTING) thing is about what and artist feels. Who gives a damn? Art will turn into shallowest and useless crap if it will not deliver REAL messages, but will be rendering artists' feelings only.

If artist knows next to nothing, understands even less, and has no language to express even that little - to hell with such an 'artist' and his/her feelings as well...

Self expression is a tragedy only when someone with a shallow self possesses poor means to express

Vonnegut, the sharpest interpreter of pointlessness on this spinning globe. One has to appreciate his wamperters, fomas and granfaloons.

Art is also about communicating with images. To do this a lot of hard work is necessary to make a single image complete and satisfying. To do this, a great deal of technique and craft that must be learned. Max Beckmann, the German expressionist, said that art was mainly craft. We might make a single line of one color and say, theoretically that it was sufficient because that was how we felt. But someone else might come along and make a line of a more interesting curve or of more enchanting colors, that expressed the same thing, or that might express what we had plus even more feelings, so that people could entertain themselves much longer with his work. Then we would have to improve our technique in order to have our expressions acceptable in the marketplace.

Art is about making stuff. Cool stuff, interesting stuff, pretty things, scary things, big, fat, little, small, things. If it's an idea for art in your head, it's still not art until you turn it into a thing. A picture, a sculpture, a building. First these are things. The adjectives you apply to describe these things implicates their art content.

IMHO
