If you all get the opportunity, check out my latest web page updates. I spent a while changing it to make it look more 'Business Like'. Let me know what you think.

And you're selling chocolate covered cotton balls?

Seriously, it seems to me if your work has a hefty price tag, you're aiming at the wrong audience here. People with a lot of discretionary funds to spend of art like to be flattered, so you need to work on another design strategy, I think. Does that make any sense? I mean, when you go to the Mercedez Benz or BMW showroom, you don't see garish windshield signs saying '$149,278.23 As Is!' Something like that. I think you need to shoot for a more formal, dignified presentation.

But then, this could all be a ploy on your part to get people to visit your web site. Right?

Erik, I pulled a couple of sentences out of your e-mail that I was wanting to get further information on: 'I think you need to shoot for a more formal, dignified presentation. ' *I'm all for that. Do you have any web sites I can look at to get a better understanding of what you are talking about. Art related or not.   'But then, this could all be a ploy on your part to get people to visit your web site.  Right?' * Of course it is... That, however, does not mean that I am not interested in opinions about my web site as well as art. I have been teaching myself programs and web page design for 3+ years and think I am finally getting pretty good at it. I realize that I will always be learning and that is why I seek out others opnions regarding the site. Thank You again for the advice. If you or anybody else can dig up some sites for me to reference, I would appreciate it. Ga

Sure, Gary. Starting with the 'trend setters' liket the National Gallery, SFMOMA and NYMOMA (NYMOMA recentely redesigned, and I think their old one was better)

Then you can start looking at Gallery web sites (and you can find some bad ones too, of course) but generally the more successful projects are restrained, understated etc. Check these out - I just did a cursory search...

Yes, there's nothing wrong with your site

In response to Clive's last message:

Could you reference a site that uses the deadlock.com reference tool. It seems like a good product but I would like to see how it is integrated into an actual site.

Thanks,

I agree. I checked out this site and it sounds intriguing. I would like very much to see this thing in action. By the way thank you all for the advice on the web site. Especially Erik. Very informative. If anyone else has any suggestions, please don't hesitate. Gary Cr
